people which were made too late,"

Another big blow to judicial integrity... excuse not good enough!!

"A computer virus wiped out several of the recently-typed proceeding notes pertaining to migrant workers' activist Irene Fernandez's Kuala Lumpur High Court appeal, resulting in the need for that particular volume of notes to be re-typed".

"The other reason for the delay - to what has already been dubbed ‘the longest trial in Malaysian history' - was the lack of clerical staff to type out the proceedings notes".

Here's something to jolt some memory concerning Irene Fenandez's case:

"In 1995, Fernandez published a report on the abuse of migrant workers, cataloguing the malnutrition, physical and sexual abuse and the appalling conditions the workers endure, and set out the facts about the detention camps where they end up and where many of them die. The research included interviews with as many as 300 migrant workers. The embarrassed government admitted that 46 people had died of various medical conditions in their detention centres, but, in March 1996, Fernandez was arrested at home and charged with ‘maliciously publishing false news’. Her trial became the longest in Malaysian history and many of the witnesses she was relying on were deported before she could make her defence. In 2003 she was finally found guilty and sentenced to a year in prison, having by then appeared in court more than 300 times. She is currently on bail pending an appeal. While on bail, her passport is confiscated and she is banned from standing for election. During the trial, the offices of Tenaganita were bugged and raided twice by government officers. The funds for their half-way house for women and children with HIV were stopped.

Despite harassment and intimidation Fernandez has courageously refused to limit her work or blunt her message, even though the prison term hangs over her head. She has never used or advocated violence and has always worked in an open and legal way. She was therefore a prime candidate for adoption by Amnesty International, which has been unequivocal in its support for her".

Only God knows what Mahathir and his gang did to this case. It took SEVEN long years to finally convict someone who was then merely telling the truth from the ground and a further FIVE years to listen her Appeal and now, it is further pushed forward to Sept 10th on those two lame reasons listed in the beginning of this post. So much for Integrity and Credibility.

PKR has its hands full with it's grassroot....

This was what i have posted on my blog through my observation after attending that Black Monday historical event way back in April. And see what happened over the past few weeks. One PKR Chinese MP was punched by a Malay member from within PKR party and yesterday we have this Chinese lady reporter allegedly being manhandled by a group of PKR members. Allegedly? Not with this picture out in the press. Picture don't lie!!

This cowardice act is definitely not acceptable to the People who came out in unity and threw their support behind the opposition during the 12th General Election. What difference is PKR to Umno if these acts were to allow to continue? Is this in line with Ketuanan Rakyat?

So to all stalwarts of PKR, do what you must to ensure that all your grassroots toe the line of your propagandas. Incidents like these will only cheapen your so-called call for a Bangsa Malaysia. It would be a grave mistake to take this lightly as they People will be watching all your moves, not to mention those Umno vultures waiting at the sideline to feast on your self inflicted deadly moves. The People want Actions, Not Lip Services!!

State Government allowance for senior citizen in Selangor

This is true and will take effect from Oct-2008... wait for official announcement from the State Government.

Dear All,

The form 'Caruman Takaful Warga Emas' is for senior citizen who is 60 years old and above to apply their allowance only once in a life time which is at RM3,500.00.

Procedure as follow:-

1) fill in the form.

2) attach a copy of your parents i/c

3) submit to S.U.K. Shah Alam (in front of IPK Polis).

4) RM500.00 will release to your parents after submission(in short time period they will get it).

Government will update records and will arrange for interview with your parents for the will that balance RM3,000.00 to which children's account after they pass away.

The above application just for senior citizen whoever stay in Selangor only. You may submit the above application to S.U.K. Shah Alam on behalf of your parents.

Update 11th August

One Anonymous alerted me on a report in the Malay daily Berita Harian that the above notification is indeed a rumour. The Corporate Secretary to the Selangor State Government, Hassan Manaf has confirmed that the report is inaccurate. According to him, those senior citizen from the age of 60 and above who has resided in the state for a year or more is entitle to an insurance protection policy of RM3,500. However, no further details were given.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Meanwhile, we shall wait for the official announcement from the state government to further confirm this dubious report on the PKR rule state government's promise to its senior citizens. Nevertheless, I welcome their thoughts and sincerity in fulfilling their promise despite the setbacks they faced from the Federal Government through funds allocation and other sabotages.

Honestly. I would have prefer them to make a cash payout to its senior citizens as an insurance protection policy cannot benefit the senior citizen directly. How about part cash and part insurance scheme on a 50:50 ratio for the said scheme?

Think it over for the senior citizens...

How to Dance in the Rain

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00am. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late.

He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?'

He smiled as he patted my hand and said,

'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought,

'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.

True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

This one I thought I could share with you.

MRR2 cracked up: Samy, what happen to the 70M to reinforce the support pillars?

Yes, it is the same stretch that hit the headlines some time ago and the same one which Samy Velu blamed it on God's weather creation. And also the same one where the government purportedly spent 70 millions of valuable taxpayer dollars to reinforce 31 of its problematic pillars. And yet today, part of it cracked causing massive jam.

What happened today really prove my suspicion right for I have made my suspicion known long ago as to the manner those repair work were been carried out. I travelled past this stretch daily and all I noticed was that they erected those scaffolding around those affected pillars and only to have a few workers chipping away at the concrete. There was no sign of heavy machinery nor were there any sign of steel or carbon consignment being delivered. So it all looked like a pillar dressing job to a layman like me.

In the first place, were there really serious cracks in these pillars or it is just another media propagate drama to justify their need to allocate 70M for re-channelling purposes? Lets give them the benefit of doubt that there was indeed serious cracks. Yet, the thought of spending 2.25M to CFRP only the top horizontal arm of the pillar which cant even cling itself to the main structure is beyond my layman view. So there goes the CFRP reinforcement purpose and now it look more like a face job comparable to us plastering our ceiling.

And finally, after spending an astronomical sum to erect this stretch of flawed elevated highway and a further 70M to correct it without penalising those responsible, we have now our DPM assuring us that the government will conduct an in depth investigation over what happened today. What a joker this asshole is... Investigate and then what? Allocate another 100M to further dress up those pillars. What about penalising all those responsible, strip them of their ill-gotten wealth and lock them up in jail? Let me remind you that what happened today could have been worse... many lives could have been lost here. Not to mention those inconveniences that regular users of this stretch continue to face.

Perhaps, I may suggest that our DPM call for investigation right from the beginning of this project. Find out why weren't this contractor penalise in the first place. Was it because of some hanky-panky that might expose those high up in the corridor of power that they let this contractor off just like that? And further check the scope of work given out for the 70M job and have experts to check all those pillars in question: check whether it is consistent with the contracted scope.

This time, the people want blood... We want those responsible to be haul up and held liable at all cost no matter who they are. If the BN government cant bring themselves to do it, then step aside and allow the PR government to have the privilege.
