May He Be The Last: Theme Of Last Night Memorial For Beng Hock And 1804 Detainees Who Died Under Police Custody Since 2003...

Was Beng Hock the last?
Before the people can digest the news of Beng Hock's sudden demise, R. Gunasegaran, 31, became the next victim. He was assaulted at the time of the arrest and immediately upon being taken to the police station and never to regain consciousness thereafter.
But does it really matter who is the last here? This memorial is for all the 1805 who died while under police custody. It doesn't matter which crime they are involved or suspected to be involve in. Senseless police brutality must be Stopped! Period! What are our laws for?
1805 deaths in custody over 6 and half years is an alarming figure. That's equivalent to 3 deaths every 4 days. Only 60 odd deaths were identified. God knows what happened to the rest. Maybe some families were too poor to pursue the case further. Perhaps, many have no idea totally.
For us to stop all these, we can't afford to stay Silent anymore!
That was the reason some of us made it to the memorial last night.
So why were we there last night? Why can't we get on with our lives and simply forget about Beng Hock?

We saw the tears. We heard the tributes. We were at the funeral. We were watching from a distance. We listened carefully when Beng Hock's fiancee, Cher Wei, spoke her heart:
" You've left me without saying any last words. You've said we still have a lot of things to accomplish together; that we have not been to many places before. You said you will walk this life together with me."
Our hearts broke. Beng Hock is gone. This pain is for Real. This anger cannot be Ignored.

That was part of the memorial proceeding under a candlelight vigil which brought tears to many.
Many words have been spoken. A lot more need to be done. In order for all these senseless murder to be stopped, we need to rise and stand together for our voice to be heard. This choice is ours to make.
Yesterday, it was Beng Hock. Today, it is R Gunasegaran. Tomorrow, it could be Me.... You.... or just anyone else.
This senseless killing must be Stopped!
May He Be The Last

Hypocrisy And Disrespect At Their Best..

Our PM and entourage caught in picture during their pilgrimage in Mecca.
"Tears were abundantly shed as getting in touch with your dear heart was truly an emotional experience." as narrated by a close pal of mine, Fi-Sha, on her experience while performing her Haj some eleven years ago.
But the expression on this picture states otherwise. Sheer arrogance on their faces with security forces condoning off a section for their comfort. Pilgrimage or Popularity Promotional Trip? I really wonder.......

Meanwhile back home, a young man's life was taken away prematurely. Sudden death, they claimed. The questionable circumstances that surround his death remains a mystery.
The fact remained. Teoh Beng Hock is gone. Leaving behind loved ones, friends and even strangers to grieve this sudden loss. Yet, those responsible looms Free.
Where is Justice?
Need I elaborate?
Need I link up these two scenarios?

Anak Anak Bangsa Malaysia Pantang DiCabar: Time For All To Make This Peaceful Solidarity Stand..

(Mkini) - A counter-rally is being planned by Majlis Permuafakatan Ummah (Pewaris), a Malay interest advocate, who will be leading a march of their own involving a coalition of 10 similar groups.
This groups includes Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa), Coalition of Young Malay Graduates (GGMM) and traditional Malay martial arts, or silat, groups.
Pewaris deputy president Rahimuddin Mohd Harun told Malaysiakini that his group and Perkasa will be gathering at the National Mosque at 11am before a rendezvous with other groups in Dataran Merdeka at about 1pm.
GGMM is expected to lead its supporters from Padang Merbok, besides Bank Negara, in a march towards Dataran Merdeka at about the same time.
KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 (Bernama) -- The Pembela Negara Federation of Non-Governmental Organisations Council (Magaran) has urged Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA (GMI) to cancel a rally planned for Saturday."
Magaran wants GMI to cancel the rally. If it persisted, then Magaran will take to the streets to support the ISA at Dataran Merdeka at 11am the same day," said legal adviser Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz.Magaran would gather at Masjid Negara, Padang Merbok and Pasar Seni before proceeding to Dataran Merdeka and Istana Negara to send a memorandum supporting the ISA to Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
He said Magaran would support the ISA and agreed if it was amended as the Act was still relevant to maintain peace and harmony."Magaran like to warn GMI not to act foolish by demanding that ISA be abolished as it had been proven to be effective in maintaining national security." Read more Here..
Do a background check on these groups and we know what they are and who they belong to.
A clear indication of their intention to sabotage GMI's rally against ISA. Supporting ISA, my foot! They don't even know what ISA stands for. Just an agenda to disguise their real intention. Intimidation, it is.
So, are we going to be cowed by this type threat and intimidation?
Who the fuck they think they are? Plotting to sabotage and now issuing threats.
I think it is time for all Anak Anak Bangsa Malaysia to stand up to this type of hooliganism once and for all. I am not suggesting a head-on clash with those idiots. I am suggesting that we come out in droves and walk our cause peacefully in big numbers. This is not only a walk against ISA. With their involvement, this has also become a Walk against Racism.
Now, PR must do their part to mobilize their supporters. Can we get a crowd like what we had during Bukit Gantang nomination day? Perhaps, some pics here could give you an idea...
That's right. Close to 80,000 of us there in front of Taiping Municipal Office that day. Can we do our part to stand in solidarity to send a message to our rotten government come 1st August?
I don't know about those who are still living in fears while our country is going to the hyenas but you better bet that many of us would be there to make our stand this time.
Enough Is Enough!
It Is Time To Put A Stop To The Abuse Of The System!

Walking Down Memory Lane With 'The Silent Roar'...

" But the quiet rumblings, inaudible at first, had been building slowly. They inched their way into our consciousness and permeated our lives. Finally, they consumed the society. Then on a strange Saturday, March 8, 2008, they exploded in a Roar."

For those who went through this historical euphoric moment, this book helps relives those special moments: moment of joy, moment of despair and the moment of satisfaction of the end result - The Victory which further keeps the Wind of Change blowing.

1Malaysia Walk This Coming 1st August: Don't Miss It..

Another sleepless night for whatever reason is beyond my comprehension.
Got myself fiddling with the remote control in the living room hoping to catch up with some nice movies on Astro. Reruns like usual. Chanced upon Bernama News channel where our PM was featured giving a speech in some dinner function for our sport personnel. Najib was citing about 3 of our past sport-man of three different races who are all down with either diabetes or heart ailment. He then carried on giving recognition to those mentioned trio for bringing positive image to our country.. blah.. blah.. blah. After some twisting, he brought into his speech, his version of 1Malaysia concept.
Hello! Is 1Malaysia concept about giving healthcare to only 3 sport-men of different races? As far as I am concern, it is the administration duty to offer healthcare to all its citizens irrespective of race or religion. No? Of course not when one starts to politicize sports, education and whatnot with all the propaganda just to favor one race against all other races. This is where the rot started.
Furthermore, we have one balls-polisher coming out with this claim that 1Malaysia is not a propaganda nor is it a wayang kulit. And we, the rakyat, are suppose to be plain dumb and stupid to buy that. Murugiah is just prostituting his soul for some reasons only known to him.

Come on, Mr Prime Minister. If you want to promote 1Malaysia, try using better examples. What was cited above is just purely lame and shallow. How about promoting your 1Malaysia concept with Umno controlled mainstream media in the like of Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian racist columnists? Take them to task and then we, rakyat, may consider your sincerity in your 1Malaysia concept.
But that is not all what we rakyat seek. We want a clean transparent government, a clean and fair judiciary, a clean and responsible police force and the list goes on. Let’s not get further into that. For a start, lets just persecute those racist columnist and those responsible for the death of A Kugan, Teoh Beng Hock and those 1,500 or more who died suddenly during detention. No? Then stop disgust me with your continuous harping on 1Malaysia.
Come 1st August, the people are going to walk. This is a 1Malaysia walk. Keep your eyes and ears open to the cries of 1Malaysia. I will be walking with my fellow 1Malaysia brothers and sisters. I am going to walk, not because the man I admire, Tok Guru Nik Aziz, is going to be there with us nor is it because of Anwar Ibrahim. Neither am I walking to seek justice for A Kugan, Teoh Beng Hock and all those who died during detention over the past 6 years.
I am going to walk because like many others, we want you to hear us Loud and Clear.
Enough Is Enough!!

Umno Goes Offensive With All Its Machinery?

First, it was the judiciary and the police force and now, we have the MACC and some so called organisations namely, Pekida and Pewaris, joining the foray. The corrupted trying to pin corruption unto others with the help of their machinery and their thugs trying to send out warnings through racist spinning of issues. And what does all these tells us?
Our country is definitely going down to the hyenas.
Forget about those popularity survey. Forget about the recent manipulated stock market spike up. These are just publicity stunts. At the end of the day, majority of the rakyat are going to end up as losers.
Again, Dean Johns does it best with his latest.
Umno's war against Malaysia
Dean Johns

The suspicious death of Teoh Beng Hock last week while in the custody of the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission (MACC) has provoked such an outpouring of rage against the Umno-dominated Barisan Nasional government that there's little point in adding my two cents' worth.

Except to make the point that, rather than reacting to every successive atrocity as if it were an isolated case, it's time to put all the pieces together and face the big picture: that Umno is waging an increasingly uncivil war against the Malaysia that most Malaysians stand for.

Since the decimation of long-term allies like the MIC and MCA in the 2008 general election, and a string of electoral setbacks of its own since then, Umno has been steadily escalating hostilities in its fight to regain lost ground.

Admittedly it hasn't yet resorted to the ultimate weapon of so many other rotten, repressive regimes - the replacement of the ballot with the bullet.

But it has taken to using money as ammunition more blatantly than ever, as in its infamous repurchase of power in Perak and the case of the bridge and other bribes that recently almost bought it victory in the Manek Urai by-election.

And in clear contradiction of its claim to be committed to the concept of equality for all in '1Malaysia', it has been shamelessly practising its traditional and highly successful 'divide and conquer' tactic through the promotion of conflict.

Recently-proposed 'unity' talks with Islamic party PAS appear to have made considerable impact. It has caused bad blood if not yet outright hostility between PAS factions, and weakened many voters' faith in the party's future as a force in the opposition coalition, Pakatan Rakyat.

And the current commander-in-chief of Umno, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, has given the lie to his brave new '1Malaysia' war-cry by firing-off a salvo declaring it the bounden duty of every Malay and thus every Muslim to enlist in the Umno cause.

As ever, Najib's assault on the hearts and minds of the nation are being strongly supported by Umno's propaganda brigade, the mercenaries and camp-followers of Malaysia's mainstream media.

Recent examples of guerilla journalism in support of the Umno cause include an article by New Straits Times Group managing editor Zainul Ariffin Isa, who accused critics of the MACC over Teoh's death of trying to “demonise Malay institutions”. Another was the craven call by Wong Chun Wai, group chief editor of Star, not to “politicise” the situation.

But this war goes far beyond words. The shock-troops in Umno's increasingly savage assaults on Malaysia, its citizens and constitution are the police, judiciary and other supposedly impartial protectors of the populace, like the Electoral Commission and the MACC.

These renegade organisations have apparently abandoned all but the thinnest pretence of neutrality in favour of serving as hired guns for Umno.

The MACC, for example, mounts ferocious attacks on corruption, but only when this is alleged to have been committed by Umno's enemies, opposition parties and their supporters. Arguably unfounded accusations of alleged infractions by Selangor Pakatan assemblypersons are being dealt with so severely, as to result in the death of an innocent bystander.

Meanwhile, it completely ignores far more tempting targets like Umno's Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, a former menteri besar of Selangor who has allegedly amassed and spent a fortune way beyond his legitimate means.

The MACC also suspiciously lacks aggression in its pursuit of dozens of other Umno and Umno-related prey, like the perpetrators of the RM12-billion Port Klang Free Zone atrocity.

Similarly, the force supposedly charged with guarding the nation's electoral system, the EC, appears utterly derelict in its duty when it comes to the gerrymandering, roll-stacking and vote-buying on which Umno's survival so heavily depends.

Losing battle

But when it comes to crimes in Umno's war against Malaysia, the EC and MACC look like pacifists compared with the police. However many deceased electors that the EC carries on its voter rolls, I've never heard it accused of actually killing any. Nor, as far as I know, has the MACC been suspected of torturing and murdering witnesses before the case of Teoh.

The police have accounted for so many victims, either killed in suspicious shoot-outs or dead as a result of 'accidents' or mysterious 'illnesses' in custody. So many of the deceased are Indians and Chinese Malaysians or foreigners that the scale of these activities almost amounts to ethnic cleansing.

Nobody knows the true toll the police take of Umno's enemies, however, as their activities are shrouded in secrecy. Few cases, if any, are ever properly investigated or prosecuted, even when they come to public notice or achieve outright notoriety like those of Altantuya Shaariibuu and A Kugan.

In any event, the Malaysian police have more vital missions to perform than investigating their own affairs. Like tear-gassing, beating and arresting unarmed citizens who peacefully assemble to protest against Umno; blocking roads to prevent anti-Umno rallies; and massing outside polling stations and opposition ceramah (political talks) to put the fear of God into Umno's enemies.

With all this muscle on its side, however, and a seemingly limitless supply of pillaged public money in its war-chest, Umno sometimes finds itself fighting a losing battle. But it always seems to have an arsenal of alternative weapons and fallback strategies for times like this. Like the well-worn trick of calling a truce and surrendering to public demand for a royal commission.

But, as we've seen since the one conducted on the police force a few years ago, and more recently on the judiciary, royal commissions are nothing but diversionary tactics designed to buy Umno time to regroup and rearm before going back on the offensive.

As offensive as Umno is, however, and as weary as most Malaysians must be after 50 years of fighting in vain for fairness, equality, justice and freedom, at least there's consolation in the knowledge that nothing lasts forever. There's always the chance that Umno will finally self-destruct like the Marcos regime in the Philippines or the Suharto military dictatorship in Indonesia.

I just hope that the forces of enlightenment, progress and active but peaceful resistance can somehow finally defeat the warmongers and whoremongers of Umno before they utterly destroy Malaysia the way the generals and their army have devastated Burma, and Mugabe and his 'war veterans' have totally trashed Zimbabwe.
