On January 28th, Haris ran a blogpost concerning the plight of a small Ahmadiyya community in Kg Nakhoda in Selayang. The Selangor Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs, Infrastructure and Basic Amenities Committee chairperson, Dr Hasan Ali, had threatened to “bury” them once and for all for good as they have been classified as a cult deviating away from the authority's version of Islam. An educational trip was arranged for us to gather more awareness with regard to this small community which have been existence for decades but only to face this problem now. In fact, the Ahmadiyya community was the first settler of Kg. Nakhoda. Below are some of the pics taken during the trip.

It was an eye opener for many of us after being brief on the history and the function of this small community. The above banner which hung boldly on the fence says it all. Truly amazing! How we were warmly accepted by the community and the ease of us feeling 'belong' made this trip worthwhile. Peace loving people just like us. Love and Respect were in the air throughout. But their plight remains. Many questions were left unanswered. Why were they single out after so many years in existence? Why now and not then? This could be a bad case of mixing Politics with Religion. To learn more on Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, please visit here.
